An Additional Student Mobility in Barcelona

Between 7 and 9 May 2026, a group of 18 students and 3 accompanying teachers from the IIS Belluzzi-Fioravanti and IIS Aldini Valeriani institutes of Bologna took part in a study mobility to Barcelona.
It is worth noting that this Barcelona mobility was an additional activity, not originally foreseen in the project proposal. The final mobility officially scheduled by the ClimArt3 partnership took place in Bologna, for logistical reasons linked to the organisation of the project's concluding activities. In order to still give Italian students the opportunity to take part in an international mobility experience, the two Bologna institutes organised this extra trip to Barcelona, extending the project's reach and impact beyond its original planning.

Over the course of the mobility, students had the opportunity to explore the relationship between sustainability and artistic expression through a varied and immersive program. They visited the BioCultura Fair in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Spain's largest event dedicated to eco-friendly products and responsible consumption, gaining direct exposure to bio-construction techniques, recycling practices and low-impact lifestyles. Alongside this, they took part in a conference on Antonio Gaudí and Sacred Geometry, which highlighted how modernist architecture draws inspiration from natural forms, and later visited the Sagrada Família itself, experiencing first-hand how structure and nature merge into a single artistic vision.

The group also explored the Montjuïc Botanical Garden, observing vegetation from the five Mediterranean climate regions of the world and reflecting on how biodiversity adapts — and is threatened — in the context of global warming. This scientific perspective was paired with an artistic one at the DocsBarcelona Festival, where students attended a screening of the documentary "Las Casas en Mí" by Leon Guallart at Casa Montjuïc, accompanied by a live musical performance that turned architecture and urban space into a personal, emotional narrative.

Finally, a visit to the historic Barri Gòtic district offered a chance to reflect on the city's urban evolution and the importance of safeguarding cultural and environmental heritage, while a closing walk along Barceloneta provided a relaxed, informal moment before the group's return flight to Bologna.

Throughout the mobility, students moved between fairs, botanical gardens, festivals and architectural landmarks, experiencing first-hand how environmental awareness and artistic language can work together — combining scientific understanding with creative expression to communicate the urgency of climate action.

The third LTTA of the ClimArt3 project brought something truly special to Bologna from 20th to 22nd of March 2026 — and the energy was unforgettable.

For the first time, all 8 partner schools from the project's 4 countries came together under one roof, united by a shared mission: using the power of comics and animation to spark meaningful conversations about climate change.

Over the course of the activity, approximately 200 students and 20 teachers worked side by side, learning from each other, pushing creative boundaries, and channelling their passion for the planet into storytelling. Workshops, collaborative sessions, and hands-on art-making created a vibrant atmosphere where science met imagination — and where young voices found new ways to be heard.

The results were extraordinary. Students refined their skills in sequential art and animation while deepening their understanding of the climate challenges facing our generation. Teachers exchanged methodologies, built lasting connections, and left with fresh inspiration to bring back to their classrooms.

Bologna welcomed the ClimArt3 community warmly, and the city itself — with its rich cultural heritage and forward-thinking spirit — proved the perfect backdrop for this creative and educational journey.

LTTA3 reminded us why this project matters: when young people are given the tools to express themselves, they become powerful advocates for the world they want to live in.

From September 29 – October 1, our ClimART 3.0 team gathered at the Strovolos Municipal Library for three days packed with creativity, strategy, and plenty of non-standard inspiration.

We co-created a roadmap for student mobility and dissemination events, and, of course, aligned on some key project management taks and next steps.

We also dove into animation techniques, comic-based storytelling, and how to bring climate topics to life through the arts!

Of course, no transnational meeting is complete without local culture: you’ll see us learning a few dance steps too.
